Basic obedience and BehAvioral Hygiene
Thriving Relationships and the Sport Dog Center are pleased to announce that Seth Lane CTBC will be leading a class for dogs who are new to their homes, or for dogs who have yet to master the basic cues that are most commonly used. The class will begin on March 25th at 6 p.m. and will be 6 weeks long, running from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Monday night. All methods used are force free and dog friendly.
Topics Covered will include:
-the basics of communication with our dogs
-understanding how dogs think and implementing learning theory and conditioning
-how to promote the behaviors we want, while curbing the development of behaviors we don't want
-basics of canine body language
-establishing polite "loose leash" walking
-incorporating "life rewards" to strengthen learned behaviors
Obedience cues:
-Sit
-Down
-Stay (I will show how you can translate this into "Wait" for doors and gates)
-Come (recall cue)
